I started indoor climbing over 5 years ago. I found it to be very physically and mentally challenging, which I loved. I have learned to appreciate the sport because it requires physical athleticism and mental toughness. Climbing has reinforced the need to persevere after initial failure to achieve an objective. It has also helped me sharpen my problem-solving skills, because there are always multiple ways to solve a problem and get to the end goal, which are not obvious. Before the pandemic started, I was getting close to the 5.12 grade.
I enjoy going out for a run to get some fresh air and observe the world around me. It’s refreshing running in the woods to clear up my mind and to run in the city to get inspired with new ideas, after taking in the chaos of the city and energy of its residents. I used to run half-marathons, but I’m down to 5Ks now due to other active hobbies.
I enjoy biking around the city and lakefront during the summer. This is also my preferred way of transportation when traveling and becoming acquainted to a new city. I’m not a professional cyclist, I enjoy leisurely bike rides.

I have made it a habit to spend at least 1 hour a day reading a book. Similar to my podcast preferences I seem to gravitate more to educational, technology, leadership, startup, inspirational, and personal growth books.
Here are a few books in the last few months:
GOOD TO GREAT - Jim Collins
QUIET - Susan Cain
THINKING FAST and SLOW - Daniel Kahneman
LEAN IN - Sheryl Sandberg
THE VOLTAGE EFFECT - John A. List
TOOLS OF TITANS - Tim Ferriss
THE CHECKLIST MANIFESTO - Atul Gawande
THEY WHY AXIS - John A. List/Uri Gneezy
I enjoy traveling around the world. The last couple of years have been rough, but prior to that I made sure every vacation day was spent in a new city or country.
Currently the only continents I have not vacationed in are Antarctica, and Australia.

I enjoy educational, technology, leadership, startup, inspirational, and personal growth podcasts.
